#TogetherWeCan end domestic violence!

The camaraderie and fellowship witnessed thisĀ #NoMoreWeek was truly inspiring! Legislators, law enforcement, social service agencies, businesses and individuals came together with one shared goal: to put an end to domestic violence and sexual assault. But…..just because No More Week is coming to an end does not mean that our work should be.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”

Domestic violence and sexual assault are preventable. The time is now. The conversation has been started. Now, it is up to us to finish it. No more shaking our heads in dismay. No more shrugging our shoulders and asking what we could have done. No more victim blaming. No more denying the facts. No more normalizing unhealthy behaviors in relationships. No more avoiding a conversation because it is uncomfortable.

Our photos and hashtags are disappearing into the social media abyss as we speak. But the conviction we felt when we took those photos, when we wrote those messages, and when we posted those images should not. Let us carry our conviction proudly like a shield until domestic violence and sexual assault are NO MORE.

#TogetherWeCan end domestic violence and sexual assault.
