Community Gathers for 10th Annual Peace from DV Walk

On Saturday, September 13, DVSSP hosted its 10th annual Peace from DV Walk at the Church of the Covenant in Washington. With sunshine, blue skies, and a spirit of unity, the community came together to raise awareness about domestic violence and show support for survivors.
This year’s walk featured a powerful new visual: 1,897 purple flags were displayed to represent each call DVSSP’s 24/7 helpline received in the past year—a sobering reminder of the critical need for services and community support.
Adding to the energy of the day, Crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram brought their larger-than-life 30-foot inflatable duck, while Washington’s Texas Roadhouse mascot, Andy the Armadillo, guided participants along the route. A kids’ activity table with button making, face painting, and tattoos made the event extra fun for families.
The walk drew 171 attendees and included 22 tables hosted by local businesses and community organizations. Music, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, and a food truck made the event festive, while participants raised their voices together in support of a violence-free future.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, the event raised $10,639.89 after expenses—funds that will go directly toward providing safety, shelter, and support for survivors of domestic violence.
DVSSP extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, or supported this milestone event.
