DVSSP Selected for Hillman Capitalization Initiative
Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania (DVSSP) has been selected to participate in Henry L. Hillman Foundation's Capitalization Initiative, a three-year project designed to help nonprofit organizations strengthen their long-term sustainability and community impact.
DVSSP is one of several organizations participating in a cohort-based model that combines planning, peer learning, and implementation support. The initiative provides opportunities for participating nonprofits to share ideas, learn from one another, and build stronger organizations together.
The first phase of DVSSP's plan includes establishing a Development Department and hiring a Director of Development to lead efforts focused on expanding individual and corporate support.
"This investment is about building a stronger future for DVSSP and the survivors we serve," said Megan Hegedus, CEO of DVSSP. "By strengthening our fundraising infrastructure, we can create greater long-term stability for our organization and ensure that critical services remain available to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence."
The Capitalization Initiative provides organizations with resources to strengthen internal capacity and position themselves for long-term growth. Over the past several months, DVSSP worked closely with consultants through the initiative to develop a comprehensive plan focused on organizational sustainability and philanthropy.
The first phase of funding has already been received, and DVSSP recently launched its search for a Director of Development. The new position will play a critical role in expanding fundraising efforts, increasing community engagement, and creating new opportunities for individuals, businesses, and foundations to support DVSSP's mission.
Every dollar raised through these enhanced fundraising efforts will help strengthen DVSSP's ability to provide emergency shelter, legal advocacy, therapy, prevention education, housing support, and other life-changing services for survivors of domestic violence.
As DVSSP continues to grow and evolve, this investment represents an important step toward ensuring that the organization remains a trusted source of hope, safety, and support for years to come.
